A marksman rifle on the MTW platform, not a carbine with a long barrel. The 308 is its own receiver set, cut for SR-25 magazines, with a two-position selector that gives safe and semi and nothing else. INFERNO Gen 2 on the Spartan board with 308 firmware.

What makes this a DMR rather than a long M4 is the magazine well. Wolverine machine the 308 receiver for SR-25 pattern magazines, which is why the gun reads correctly as an M110 or SR-25 build and why it takes the furniture and optics people put on those.

It is semi only, and that is hardware rather than a software setting. The selector has two positions, safe and semi-auto, and it is a short right-side ambidextrous unit. For the marksman role that is the right answer, and most UK sites ask for semi on a DMR anyway, so you lose nothing you could have used.

The barrel is 380mm inside a 14.5-inch outer, with a 1.5-inch extension in the box to take it out to length. The rail is 13 inches of 6160 aluminium with M-LOK on seven sides, which is a lot of mounting room — enough for a bipod, a bag rider and a sling point without anything crowding anything else.

Everything comes apart without tools, on real-steel pins and detents with a hardpoint disconnect. The Tactical trim brings a DLG premium real-steel grip, a Crane stock and the Invictus MS-1 flash hider.

Frequently asked questions

Can I make it full-auto? No. The selector is a two-position unit, safe and semi, and the firmware is built around it. Wolverine do list a three-position selector as an MTW-Spec upgrade, so ask us if that is what you are after.

What magazines fit? It ships with an MTW-Spec 308 magazine that drives the empty-mag detection, and takes A&K and Classic Army style SR-25 AEG magazines as spares, along with the PTS EPM-LR SR25.

Why a 1.5-inch extension? It takes the 14.5-inch outer barrel out to a longer overall length, the way a real rifle uses a pinned muzzle device. It is in the box rather than an extra.

Is it heavy? Wolverine quote 4.7lb for this trim, before a magazine. It is noticeably more gun than a 10-inch carbine and the weight sits forward, which is what you want off a bipod and not what you want in a corridor.

Can I fit a QUAKE recoil stock? Only with an INFERNO XTS and the 308 adapter, so not as it stands. Ask us before buying either part.

What BB weight should I run? Heavier than you would on a carbine. A 380mm barrel and a semi-only trigger reward a heavy BB and a hop set properly for it.
