The fully loaded Forged. Engine, app and recoil, with the airline out of the grip. XBR means three things on top of the Forged receiver: the INFERNO XTS engine, the BLINC Bluetooth FCU, and the QUAKE MTW recoil stock with a fixed rear airline connector to feed it.

The QUAKE is the part you notice. It is an actuated stock driven purely by air, tapping the recoil port on the XTS engine so the same shot that fires the BB also cycles the stock. There are no extra electronics and no motor — Wolverine quote up to 35lb of force from it, for 2.7oz of added weight.

It is tuned rather than switched. The flow reducers inside the XTS nozzle set how hard it hits, so you can trade recoil against efficiency to taste. Wolverine give 15 rounds per second as the optimal rate of fire with a QUAKE fitted and specifically advise against going higher, which is worth taking seriously: this is a mechanical system being cycled by every shot.

The fixed rear airline connector is the quiet half of the upgrade. Instead of running your line out through the grip, it gives you a hardpoint on the sling plate with a 3.5-inch filtered airline inside the gun. It releases on a button, so you can connect and disconnect one-handed, and the gun comes apart without unthreading anything.

All of that sits on the Forged receiver set: real AR-15 forgings with a forward assist, a spring-loaded charging handle, an ambidextrous steel-paddle selector and a metal hop unit. The BLINC FCU then puts rate of fire, dwell, burst and fire-mode profiles on your phone, with autotune dwell if you pair a compatible Acetech chronograph.

Frequently asked questions

Does the recoil need its own battery? No. The QUAKE is driven entirely by air off the engine's recoil port, so there are no extra electronics and nothing more to charge.

Why cap the rate of fire at 15 RPS? Because Wolverine say so, and it is a mechanical stock being cycled on every shot. Running it faster is asking the system to do something the manufacturer specifically advises against.

Can I turn the recoil down? Yes, with the flow reducers in the XTS nozzle. They are the intended way to tune it, and they let you trade some of the kick back for efficiency.

What is the point of the rear airline connector? It gets the line out of your grip and onto a hardpoint at the sling plate, with a button release. You can hook up one-handed and strip the gun without fighting the line.

Will the QUAKE fit a Gen 2 engine? No. It needs the recoil port on the INFERNO XTS, which the Gen 2 does not have.

Does recoil make it shoot better? No, and it is worth being clear about that. It makes the gun feel like a real rifle, which is the reason to buy it. Accuracy and consistency come from the hop, the barrel and the regulator.
