Wolverine INFERNO Gen 2 Premium Edition — the engine that made HPA mainstream, with the standalone FCU for people who want full control.

An AEG is a machine that changes as you use it. The battery sags across a game day and the rate of fire drops with it. The spring settles, the piston wears, the gears shim themselves out of true. None of it happens fast enough to notice on the day, and all of it means the gun you chronographed in the morning is not quite the gun you are shooting by mid-afternoon.

HPA removes that entirely. Air arrives at a regulated pressure on every shot, so the last BB of the day leaves at the same velocity as the first. There are no gears to strip, no piston to shear and no motor to slow down. It is the single biggest change you can make to how consistently a rifle shoots.

The Gen 2 architecture is what separates it from the systems that came before. A single solenoid drives an independent poppet and nozzle, which lets the engine behave like an open-bolt design where that helps and a closed-bolt one where that helps. In practice: no dry first round, no wasted air, easy dwell tuning — and hop-up adjustment that behaves predictably instead of fighting you. Wolverine also found roughly 10 to 15 per cent more efficiency than their previous generation, and did it without adding a single extra critical O-ring.

The Premium Edition is defined by its electronics. The Gen 2 Premium FCU is a standalone fire control unit that runs alongside a separate trigger board, rather than the all-in-one arrangement of the Spartan. That separation is what gives it the deeper configurability serious builders want, and it is the meaningful difference between the two editions — not the engine, which is identical.

It drops into a V2 M4 gearbox without modification, so your receiver, rail, stock and furniture all stay exactly as they are. It is also backwards compatible with Wolverine's wider electronics range, so an existing Wolverine setup carries over.

Good to know before you buy

The engine is identical to the Spartan Edition — you are choosing the electronics. The Premium FCU is standalone and needs a separate trigger board, where the Spartan combines both in one unit. Take the Premium if you want the deeper configuration; take the Spartan if you would rather tune from the trigger and spend less. On top of the engine you will need an HPA tank, a regulator, a line and a battery for the FCU.

Frequently asked questions

What actually differs between Premium and Spartan Edition?
The electronics only — the INFERNO Gen 2 engine is the same in both. The Gen 2 Premium FCU is a standalone unit that works with a separate trigger board and offers deeper configuration. The Spartan is an integrated trigger board and FCU in one, tuned through the trigger itself. Same shooting platform, different level of control.

What is the open bolt problem, and why does it matter?
Open-bolt engines tune easily and waste no air, but hop-up tuning is fiddly. Closed-bolt systems tune the hop cleanly but lose those advantages. The Gen 2's hybrid design keeps the open-bolt benefits while making hop tuning behave like a closed-bolt system.

Will it fit my rifle?
It is built for the V2 M4 gearbox, which covers most M4-pattern AEGs, and installs without modification. Gearboxes with a factory ETU, V3 platforms and offset-nozzle designs need checking — send us your make and model and we will confirm at no cost.

Is it more efficient than the older INFERNO?
Wolverine estimate 10 to 15 per cent better than their previous systems, which in practice means more shots from the same tank fill.

What else do I need to run it?
An HPA tank, a secondary regulator, a line, and a small battery for the FCU. None of those are included with the engine.

Can you fit and tune it for me?
Yes. Converting an AEG to HPA means stripping the gearbox and rewiring the trigger circuit. We install, configure and chronograph to your site limit through the tech service.

This is an engine, not a complete gun. You will also need an HPA tank, a regulator and an HPA line. Always run through a secondary regulator and never exceed the engine's rated pressure. Fitting requires a full gearbox strip — we do it through the tech service.
💡 Titan Forge Airsoft tip: pair it with a STORM Cat5 regulator and see all our HPA engines, or message us on WhatsApp and we will spec it with you.
